LAUNCH EVENT – Warsash Sailing Club
May 27 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Bank Holiday Monday, May 27th, 8.00pm at Warsash Sailing Club
Ron Holland will speak at Warsash Sailing Club
Ron Holland will be traveling in the UK in May and, having many friends at Warsash Sailing Club, has offered to give a talk.
As members will recall from his last presentation at the Club, some years ago, (‘From quarter-tonners to Mirabella V’) Ron is a brilliant storyteller, having designed, and raced on, many very famous boats during his long career.
The Boat International website alone features some 70 of his designs.
These include raceboats such as Golden Apple and Morning Cloud as well as many maxi and superyachts such as Condor, Kialoa, Whirlwind XII and the enormous Miralbella V, now M5, to name but a very few.
Though originating from Auckland Ron founded his design studio in Ireland opposite the world’s oldest yacht club, the Royal Cork, and it was in 2011 that he moved to Vancouver where he now lives.
Ron will no doubt be discussing his latest book, All the Oceans, which several members who already have it, agree that it is an absolutely fascinating read. “All The Oceans” has been short listed by Foreword Reviews, as a 2018 INDIE Finalist!, showing not just sailors like a good story. Ron’s last talk at the Club resulted in ‘standing room only’ so it is probably advisable to book a table if you wish to have supper
